Northam Beach Cafe (Seafood stall)

Butter Chicken Set RM4.80

Sweet & Sour Fish Fillet Set RM4.80

Northam Beach Cafe, seafood stall is located at the back near the sushi stall (sorry forgot to take the name down)

Divya's Say

The food was pretty good and it was cheap also for RM4.80 you get a good amount of rice, fish fillet, egg and soup. This place only opens in the evening which is a plus point for those of you who loves eating out for dinners so for those of you who are finding for places to eat during lunch time, well....not much luck in that. I love the place, it's just by the sea, so you get that nice sea breeze while enjoying your food. The place is also very clean and it's very pretty at night once all the light's are lighted. The food in detail was sweet and sour fish fillet. First things first, the sauce was ready made which was alright but i wished they had made it themselves. It looked like some muted chilly sauce to me but everything else wasn't bad at all. I would give it a 3/5.

Mel's Say

I ordered the sweet & sour butter chicken set which comes with soup & egg. The food was delicious & I was hungry so the portion was satisfying. I didn’t expect much for something as much as RM4.80 but it was good & cheap. Plus it is near the seaside & you get to see the view of the sea. I’ll surely come back & try out other dishes. Overall I’ll rate this place a 4/5.

Lorong Susu (Chicken Rice)

This chicken rice shop is located at Lorong Susu along Macalister Road. There's only one food served in this shop and it's of course chicken rice. We went during lunch hour and it was sure busy.

Divya's Say

I can tell that everything us homemade even the chilli so that's always a good sign cause these days there are just too many chicken rice shops around and some of their food like the sauce and chilli are often bought or ready made. It was very cheap only RM3 for the chicken rice and it came with a huge bowl of soup. And unlike most chicken rice shops which only serve clear soup this particular shop serves salted vege in the soup aswell. The shop was pretty clean and they were fast workers- fast enough to serve the very busy shop. overal im impressed definately pay a visit again. I would give this place a 4/5.

The Chicken Rice was not bad. It was delicious & tasty with the mixture of variety of soya sauce. The amount of rice given was reasonable & there was plenty of meat to eat. The soup served has an interesting taste for a salted veggies soup. The price for the drinks was cheaper too compared to other places. The restaurant was very busy during lunch hours, it took less than a minute to prepare the food but as the orders was plying up, and we had to wait for our food to arrive. I was rather surprised that it was cheap as much as RM 3 per plate. Overall I would rate this a 4/5.

Penang Delicious Foodcourt (Macalister Road)

Penang Delicious FoodCourt is located along Macalister Road. And we tried the economy rice there (sorry no pictures on the food was just normal economy rice with dishes)

Divya's Say

Firstly, the food is expensive or economy rice. My plate consist of 'quater' rice, a very small portion of vege, pork and herbal egg costs me almost RM4. I asked for half rice but she scooped out only quater of it. And we were not allowed to self-service either which was kind of annoying at times because i couldn't have a good look at the dishes and think what i want. The food was ok, nothing great about it. Overall, i dont think so i'll be returning to this economy rice because of it's price - overcharged for a very small portion isn't my defination of economy. But i will pay some visits to this foodcourt because they seem to have a variety of other foods. Overall i would rate this place 1.5/5 (not impressed)

Mel's Say

The price of the food was more outstanding than the food. The portion of the food was very little indeed, I only took two dishes which I was charged for RM 4. The food was nothing to be wow about, my cafeteria food taste better. It was rather an unsatisfying meal. I don’t recommend this place if you are looking for cheap economy rice because it’s certainly isn’t. I would rate this place a 1/5.

Ananda Bahwan (Tanjung Bungah)

sweet lassi on the left, rassem on the right and iced tea in the middle

rice, dry chicken varuval, eggplant

tandoori naan set
This restaurant has a few chains throughout the island but the most easiest nd convenient one is in Tanjung Bungah next to the Rooftop Cafe opposite Crown Prince Hotel. There's also another one in Little India. This place operates from morning till late at night and they serve a variety of food ranging from Indian cuisine, Chinese, Malaysian delicasies and so much more.

Divya's Say

I actually have nothing but good things to say about this place. I visit this place pretty often and i just love everything about it. The food, environment, the service, price...everything. During this particular visit, i had rice with dry chicken varuval, some vege, and eggplant with curry ofcourse and also not forgetting the rassem. Overall my plate of rice cost me RM4.50. way much better than going to the mamak shops. You can actually ask for more rice without any cost which is actually a plus point for those who tend to ask for extra rice during their meals. I also had my personal favourite, Sweet lassi. It's actually part sweet, part with a sour-ish tang and its very foamy. It cost around RM2-3 for a glass. Personally i've also tried the tosai, idly, roti tisu (which is special from the other mamak shops), roti bom, banana leaf set before from this restaurant aswell. They all taste very good. My most recent tries was the banana leaf set with fried lady's finger. It was about RM4-5 for the set. definately worth my money. The place is very clean even the wash area. And they had two wash areas one at the front and another at the back. they also have a mini playground for children. the branch in Tanjung Bungah is usually fulled woth tourist especially during weekends and if you're thinking about organizing a birthday party or any kind of small function you can definately do it here as they have a spot reserved for functions. The service is pretty good, some of the workers might have language barriers but still you wont have a problem stressing out what you want. So if you're on a look out for some indian cuisine, afforable, tasty and even halal definately check this place out and give it a try. there's no surprise why i would give this place a 5/5, i highly recommend this place to anyone who loves indian food or maybe just want to have a go at it.

Melvina's Say

This was my first time trying out this place & I absolutely love it. When I first looked at the menu I didn't know what to order because there so many variety of food. After deciding for a while I ended up with the tandoori naan set. The food was amazing, the chicken was the tastiest. The set cost around RM 7 - RM 9. It was also very filling indeed. As for the drinks, I have an obsession with tea so I had iced tea which came with a lovely cup,it was good. This place also serves alcohol if your a drinker. We decided to dine outdoor because the indoors were packed. We sat at a little booth near the entrance which almost seems like we were having a picnic in the park. The place was definitely clean & a tourist spot.
I would give this place a 4/5 rating. I'll definitely come back here again because there are just so many other food I would love to try.

ChopperBoard (Gurney Plaza)

White Rice that came the set

Spaghetti Bolognese

Hainanese Fish Rice

Divya's Say

I had the Hainanese Fish Rice set which came with the honey ginseng tea ofcourse. The whole set was about RM7 if im not mistaken. The set consist of a bowl or white rice, sweet & sour fish and hard boiled egg. This time around i'm actually lucky to have a better meal then my first experience here. This set was actually not bad. Quite nice. There was some black sesame seed i believe sprinkled on the white rice. I did enjoy my meal it was pretty filling so worth my money. However the only problem i had was eating rice with a chopstick. i know it's been part of tradition since the olden days its just that it wasn't practical but i believe they wanted to keep that tradional chinesey theme going on. Didn't really bother me. Overall im satisfied. Like i mentioned before, this place is clean and much afforable. So definately check this place out if you're in the mood for some chinese food with a touch of fusion. Overall i'll give this meal a 4/5. The taste could be improved if it was a little more sour coz i tasted the sweetness more.

Melvina's Say

I ordered the spaghetti bolognese set, this time I decided to have a hot honey ginseng tea because I was having a cold that day. It tasted even better hot than cold actually. As for the spaghetti it was quite a disappointment. The sauce tasted too watery it almost seem tasteless. Tasted like normal tomato ketchup with extra water. There was a mixture of chicken & fish if I'm not mistaken with some barely unnoticeable cheese. The set cost about RM8 - RM9,was not that worthy at all.Didn't know whether it was because I was sick that day or the food I had was just plain tasteless. I would give a 2.5/5 rating for the food.

Northam Beach Cafe

Fish & Chips

Chicken Maryland

Divya's Say

Western dinner at Northam Beach Cafe which is just opposite Northam Tower/Northam Hotel. This is place is located by the sea something like Padang Kota. So it's very breezy and just relaxing to have a meal with friends, family and even alone (if you prefer =]) The price is quite ok for the food served. I've only tried out these two food from this place. It cost me around RM25 in total inclusive of fruit drinks aswell for two person. The fish & chips were quite good however the chicken maryland was pretty dry. All this while i've been having my chicken maryland with some sauce on it but this had no sauce whatsoever. But i am actually pleased because the dish came with some chips, bacon, sausage, french bread (baguette) and some coleslow. Very filling i must say. The place was pretty clean even the sink area. I'll give this place a plus point for it's parking space, very vast indeed so no problem with parking. However there was one thing i dislike is the drinks stall, their customer service was very very bad. Im already eating my meal and they still didnt come over and take my order. I've been calling them many times but yet some tend to ignore and some said they will be right back which they never did. So the drinks stall wasn't quite up to my liking. But nice place, very pretty once the sun sets. i'll definately be going back for more dinners to come. Loads of variety i've yet tried out yet. Overall i would give this place 3.5/5 excluding the drinks stall that is because they are just terrible.

ChopperBoard (Gurney Plaza)

Szehuan Noodles

Chocolate icecream and brownie

Honey Ginseng tea

Black Pepper Chicken Rice

Tuna Pai Tee

All of the food above came in a set of main dish and a drink. The tuna pai tee and chocolate brownie was a side order. The set usually cost from RM6-RM9 and they all come with honey ginseng tea with could be served hot or cold. The tuna pai tee was around RM3 and as for the chocolate brownie's it was around RM2 if im not mistaken.

Divya's Say

The price was quite reasonable for the place. I personally expected it to be expensive but it wasn't. Unfortunately the noodle i choosed kinda taste like rojak sauce and to my dismay it was supposed to be szehuan noodles but it was actually spegetty noodle. Not a fan of that dish in particular. The drinks was nice, i actually like it. It was refreshing and just a great quench for thirst. The tuna pai tee, well the tuna itself was nice only thing is that it was very dry. I would prefer if it was just a little moist. The vegetables werent the tradional kind, they were actually pickled cucumber and carrots. They were too sweet for my liking. I understand that the tuna pai tee wasnt a tradional pai tee however i thought they could improvise on these things and make it better. Also the pai tee was quite confusing coz the tuna and the vege came in the same bowl with the tuna on the top, i was very confused thinking that they had missed out on the vege so didnt touch my pai tee for sometime till i finally figured it out. The enviroment was ok, it was clean. The interior was nicely decorated with modern chairs and tables and interesting wallpapers. Overall i would give this place a 3/5 simply because the dish i ordered wasn't really good. however the customer service was pretty good.

Melvina's Say

Well I used to eat here most of the time if we're eating in Gurney because most of the other places are quite pricey, the food at the food court sucks, & we're sick of fast food. So we decided to eat here instead because I remember it was cheap & they served a variety of foods.I ordered the black pepper chicken rice set it was alright, tasted like home cooked food which came with a cup of honey ginseng tea. I actually enjoyed the honey ginseng tea even tough I don't really like the taste of ginseng. I absolutely love my chocolate ice-cream with brownie, the brownie was moist & delicious, the ice-cream tasted like any normal chocolate ice-cream & it only cost less than RM3. The service was very welcoming because they welcome each & everyone one of their customers as they step into the restaurant. But the place went smaller after the renovation but it stills attracts quite number of customers. The interior of the restaurant was nice, they have interesting interior graphics on the walls which was rather fascinating & with mixture of modern & olden touches. I would give this place a 4/5 rating.
